| House: foundation walls poured |
|
|
They pumped seven trucks full of concrete into the forms for our basement walls. It was really cool! They used an enormously tall green crane (actually called the Schwing 36') to pour the wet concrete into the forms. Then they had a guy with a shovel following the big tube and pushing the concrete around. Finally a gyu came and smoothed the top of the walls.
Again, I must comment that all the guys (I've not seen any women yet) building our house are SO nice. First of all, they don't mind me coming to watch and take video and pictures. Secondly, the always wave and smile, if it is loud, or actually chat with me, and tell me how nice my house will be. I suppose that I'm a welcome distraction from the monotony of the job, but it is still nice.
I also stopped and chatted with the guys who are going to pour our basement and garage floors. They were working on a house up the street. They told me all about their kids. Chatty and nice!
I saw Mohammed on the street. What a friendly guy he is! Yay for friendly neighbors!
You just have to know that I'll be the friendly neighboy lady that takes cookies to people when the move in.
