House: electrical meeting, plumbing in, rough grading done
I went to the model today to tell Sharon where we want all of our electrical outlets, and the other crazy things we want to do. For instance, we want all of the light switches for the closets to be inside the closets, not outside. Why, you ask? Well, so we can use motion sensors on them. When you open a closet door, we want the light to come on automatically. Nifty, eh?

I stopped by the lot afterwards to take pictures of what is going on. I talked to the grading guy briefly... he had stopped pushing dirt around because he wanted to wait until the foundation floor was in. He didn't want to push all the dirt against the foundation wall without the added support of the floor. Sounds good to me. He said that they would probably haul all the extra dirt out of there, because there wasn't anywhere to put it, except into the trees, and he thinks that would kill them.

So, partial grading has been done. The rough plumbing is in, as far as I can tell, but I know nothing about such things. There are white PVC tubes in the basement floor area. I can only assume that is plumbing.

I can see where the electrical and cable box will be in our yard, and it is in a good place... right between our driveway and the driveway next door. It will be easy to hide and won't interfere with mowing. Yay! I don't know why they don't put those things in the back yard like they did at my parents' house. They are not attractive.

I met another neighbor. This is the neighbor who selected their lot before we did, and chose to have a golf course view rather than a wooded view. Crazy people. They are building a house that is much more expensive than ours. That is good. Anyway, her name is Rachel, and her 4-year old son's name is Jordan. She said she wants to get pregnant again soon, so there will be more babies around. She was very nice. I gave her my card, she gave me her phone number. I would never use a phone number, but maybe she'll send me email.
