- December 28th, 2003 - sign initial papers
- get a call from Sharon that they have pricing on the lot
- head in to sign papers - 7 hours in the office!
- floorplans and topographical map and housing development plans
- January 9th, 2004 - sign final papers
- meet Nicole and Sharon at 3:00 to sign final papers, view the lot
- lot is staked out with house location
- all custom requests, color choices, flooring choices, etc, must
be submitted by this point
- February 12th, 2004 - Jen's typical panicking
- I am suddenly struck by the conviction that our brick color is ugly
- Sharon gives me a list of houses with that brick color so I can check them out
- I visit the lot, as usual
- February 23rd, 2004 - Preconstruction meeting with Keith and Sharon
- more trees were removed than we expected, but it is all right
- February 25th, 2004 - Groundbreaking
- I went and watched the first scoop of dirt be removed from our future hole
- digging the basement took two days
- February 27th, 2004 - Footers are in
- the footers have been poured
- February 29th, 2004 - Gravel has been spread over the foundation
- I caught the guy with the Rock Chucker throwing rocks into our basement
- March 4th, 2004 - Foundation walls
- the forms
- pouring the concrete
- all done and curing
- March 8th, 2004 - plumbing and initial grading
- lots of white pipes, and I met my neighbor
- March 13, 2004 - basement floor
- we have a basement floor! We watched the guys pouring and flattening it.
- Travis took lots of pictures of Lot 52's basement, too.
- March 19, 2004 - basement walls
- the non-earth covered sides of our basement are built now
- March 20, 2004 - first floor walls
- we were shocked to see that we actually have first floor walls!
- March 22, 2004 - first floor interior walls
- now we have actual rooms on the first floor
- I start to realize how gorgeous our house will be
- March 23, 2004 - second story is on
- as I was driving into the neighborhood I could see the top of our house!
- March 24, 2004 - roof trusses
- we have the skeleton of a roof!
- March 26, 2004 - walkthrough with Keith
- we have a plywood roof and all walls and windows
- March 28, 2004 - visit
- I'm not sure why I took so many pictures this day, but here they are
- April 5, 2004 - brick started
- little ants started swarming over our house, putting up brick
- April 9, 2004 - Pre-drywall Inspection
- tons and tons of pictures, organized by room
- designed so we will know where the wires and supports are in case we want to remodel someday.
- April 12, 2004 - Sherlock Homes Inspectors
- visited the home with an inspector
- April 23, 2004 - brick is done!
- they've finished the brick, and it looks pretty good.
- April 25, 2004 - drywall is in progress
- most of the drywall is done and mudded, but no paint
- May 2, 2004 - flooring!
- our vinyl flooring is in and it makes such a difference! The house looks like it will be a house, and not just a construction site!
- May 4, 2004 - rear siding is up and door handles are in
- the siding is on the rear of the house and we love the color
- May 7, 2004 - cabinets are in!
- my beautiful cherry cabinets are in!
- May 15, 2004 - brick has been cleaned
- the brick is mostly clean, so we can see the real color now
- May 18, 2004 - finishing touches
- we have lights and speakers and and and
- May 23, 2004 - carpet is in!
- the carpet is in and wow is it ever white! I didn't know I was choosing such white carpet. Yikes. It looks good. For now.
- June 8th, 2004 - final walkthrough
- June 11th, 2004 - closing
