Kayli is 3 months old!

Kayli is such a good baby (for me, anyway). She goes to sleep around 9:00pm and wakes only once or twice to nurse and have her diaper changed. That's a mixed blessing, actually, because sometimes I have to wake her up because my breasts wake me up. In any case, it is very different than how I remember the early months with Xander. I thought he was good, too, but I was up a lot at night. Possibly because I'm a night person, so if he woke me I just got up and logged on. I was chatting at all hours of the night. Once I was up, I usually just stayed up for an hour or two because I knew I could nap if I needed/wanted to.

Kayli goes to sleep at night in my bed, and then I can leave her there. Amazing! I guess that we never even tried that with Xander because he was always in the sling, but it's nice! After a day of being on my feet with her in the sling, it is nice to have some time off. I really thought it was good for Xander that he was constantly in contact with us, but I don't think it will hurt Kayli to sleep on her own for a few hours in the evening.

Kayli is rolling over from front to back. She first did it a while ago, accidentally, but I think she's really got it now.

She smiles. She laughs. She kicks her little feet and waves her little arms when she first sees me in the morning. Such a lovely way to wake up!

She sleeps in the car. When I drive up to Michigan, a three and a half hour drive, she just sleeps the entire way. No nursing, no diaper changing, just sleeping.

She is very easy to carry around all day while I play with Xander. She will let me just sit and play with trains with him. She watches avidly. She's going to be his biggest fan, I can tell already. She usually lets me eat, or is happy to nurse on the boppy while I eat.

The only thing I could complain about is that she doesn't seem to like Travis much, which is quite unfortunate for me. I get my hour of running time each day, but other than that, she's pretty much on me. When Travis has her, she just cries, which completely interferes with his ability to give Xander the dad attention that he craves. I ran tonight (4 miles at 6mph) and Xander sought me out and told me that Kayli needed to nurse. I told him that she didn't, and he eventually went away. Apparently she had cried for the entire hour I was running. As soon as Travis passed her over to me, she stopped crying. I didn't even nurse her right away.

People say that the second one has to be easier, because he/she doesn't get undivided attention, but I think Kayli is just an easy baby. Lucky me
