Friday, June 2: Boonshoft Just one photo of Xander playing at the water table. |
Sunday, June 4 - whites: Visit to Whites Xander went to stay with my parents by himself for the first time! He was very excited! He wasn't hesitant at all. A week earlier, my mom made him a little chart with Thomas stickers to put on each day so he knew how soon he'd be going. He stayed for three nights (because he's three, he said). He had a great time there, and didn't miss us at all. I tried to call to talk to him, but he barely had time. I did love to hear him say, "Hi Mom" when he answered the phone. |
Thursday, June 8: Kayli and the Leapfrog Table Kayli loves the Leapfrog Table, just like Xander did. She's wearing a green dress that the Brehob's passed to us from Kira. Very cute! There is also a video of Kayli bouncing by the table. She very attractively looks like she's choking, but I promise that she really isn't. |
Thursday, June 8 - momsclub: MOMS Club Book Group I hosted Book Group at my house. We were discussing "Someone Not Really Her Mother", which was a novel about Alzheimer's Disease and I found it profoundly depressing. |
Thursday, June 8 - whites: Mel's Visit Melissa was down visiting waiting for her car to be fixed, so she spent some time with the kids and helped me out with the parties I had this weekend. Here are a few pictures of Melissa and Kayli together. |
Friday, June 9: Punk Rock Kids! Xander and Kayli are wearing the shirts that Aunt Mel got them when Kayli was born. They are so cute! |
Friday, June 9 - moonbeams: Moonbeams - Susan's Last Day! We met at the Fairborn YMCA for playgroup and to say goodbye to Susan, who is moving far far away to a wonderful neighborhood. We'll miss her a lot! The Fairborn Y is a great place because it is fenced in but quite large, so the kids can run and play. Also, there is a bathroom in the Y, which is a nice benefit. Xander (and all the kids) really love the red swings there, which are designed for handicapped children. Great idea - I can't believe I've never seen those anywhere else. |
Friday, June 9 - whites: Aunt Mel and the kids Mel was talking on the phone and the kids joined her on the glider, so I got a couple of pictures. |
Saturday, June 10: Xander and Impending Xander has a love-hate relationship with the cats. He thinks he loves them, but he shows it by chasing them around, which they hate. In a rare moment of camaraderie, he has approached Impending and gotten the chance to pet him. |
Saturday, June 10 - jen: Me me me I took some pictures of me with my new haircut, dressed up for the MOMS Club banquet. I'm wearing the pearl necklace that Paul Reekie gave me for my wedding. He got it in Japan. It is gorgeous! Thanks, Paul! I'm also wearing the little burgundy dress that I've had for years - it is the dress that I wore for our engagement picture. |
Saturday, June 10 - momsclub: MOMS Club Annual Banquet We all gathered sans kids at Villa di Giovanni's in Fairborn for our annual banquet. It was a lot of fun! I planned a bunch of games, most of which were fun. We switched tables a lot so we got to talk to a lot of different people. We watched a slideshow of all the photos I've taken at MOMS Club events throughout the past year. It was a wonderful evening. |
Saturday, June 10 - paolettis: Dave's Graduation Party Our grad school friend Dave (now also Travis's student) earned his PhD and we threw him a party at our house to celebrate! It was a great party... with excellent lasagna (by Nancy), lots of appetizers (by me), and many wonderful people, including Dave's parents and Dave's brother. Congratulations, Dave! |
Sunday, June 11: The Kids Kayli is standing up so well now... I got a picture of her looking out the window, and also some video of her smiling. This was during our neighborhood block party. |
Sunday, June 11 - woodlands: Woodlands' Block Party Despite the threatening clouds, we decided to hold the Woodlands' Block Party anyway. It turned out to be great weather for it... not too hot or sunny. It was actually a bit chilly, but the kids were all having a water fight and were just drenched. Crazy kids. Everyone had a good time eating, chatting, and playing badminton, slingball, and corn hole. I love our neighborhood! |
Monday, June 12 - whites: Melissa's Visit Melissa came to visit for a few days, and these are some pictures of her with the kids, as well as some pictures that she took of me holding Kayli. Xander loves lining all of his vehicles up so they can be fixed by the "chanic". |
Tuesday, June 13 - whites: Melissa's Visit Melissa and I went to lunch at Steak and Shake while Xander was at preschool. I've been loving Steak and Shake lately! Kayli looked very cute with the hat on, though she didn't like wearing it much. She still hasn't learned how to sit still during dinner, so we took turns holding her. There are some very cute pictures of Melissa holding both the kids with the Ramones shirts on that she gave them. |
Wednesday, June 14: Kayli in the cute pink dress Xander and Travis left us alone at the house so it was time for a photo session! This little outfit was given to Kayli by Rebecca and Teresa for Easter. It is so cute!. |

Saturday, June 17 - msu: MSU Reunion! I got together with my closest friends from college. I met them all within the first day or two after moving into the dorm, and stayed in touch to some degree all these years. This was the first time that we have been together since we graduated! It was much fun to see them and chat with them, and we all plan to stay in touch. Paul Reekie, Eric Ralya, and Deb Sherman. |
Saturday, June 17 - whites: Visiting Whites - Independence Lake We decided that it was a beautiful night to head out to Independence Lake. We packed a dinner and ate out there. I was only up for the weekend, so it was a whirlwind trip, but this was a nice couple of hours of peace. There is also a fantastic video of my dad showing Xander how a pie is made! |
Sunday, June 18 - whites: Visiting Whites - Father's Day and Clark's Visit On Father's Day, Xander took breakfast in bed to my dad, who was completely and totally asleep. He was good natured (if a little befuddled) about it, and had a nice breakfast. After breakfast, my cousin Clark came over and we spent the day with the Stone family, catching up and playing some cards. It was so good to see Clark again! Some of my favorite family memories involve playing Nertz with him and his brother Brad up at the cottage in Grayling. Those were the days! Melissa brought her boyfriend Jeff, and there some cute pictures of them together. |
Monday, June 19: Visiting Whites - driving back The kids and I headed home, and we stopped at the mall in Toleda so we could see Ash, and eat Olga's and Dippin' Dots. After hanging with Ash briefly, we played in the play area for a while so Xander could tire himself out. Xander now believes that he can pick Kayli up. That doesn't seem like a good idea. |
Monday, June 19 - camp: Visiting Ash We had Dippin' Dots with Ash! |
Tuesday, June 20: Kayli in her high chair Just a few pictures of Kayli eating Rice Krispies... pretty much the only food that she'll eat. |

Tuesday, June 20 - school: Xander's First Field Trip! Xander went on a field trip with his preschool class today. They got to ride a bus, which Xander has been talking about since he started going to school. Lucky boy. They went to a garden downtown. I guess they had fun, though Xander did get in some trouble for hitting the boy next to him (Jarrod). |
Saturday, June 24 - humble: Katie Humble's Birthday Party Xander, Kayli, and I went to Katie's birthday party. Katie is a neighbor of ours, and her mom, Lori, plays Bunko with me. They had a bouncy house and Heater, the mascot from the Dayton Dragons was there, too. |
