Just for fun, I'm collecting all of the clever emails that people have sent him, astonished by the fact that he really is Dr. Doom. For those who don't know, Dr. Victor von Doom is a Marvel comic book character whose ambition is to rule the world. Here's a quote:

"Know this now-and know it forever! DR. DOOM has no rivals! None! NONE! In all the world, there are none to match me! None can rival DR. DOOM in total mastery of the diabolical!"

Travis has always enjoyed his connection with the supervillian (some might claim that he decided to complete his doctoral degree just so he could catch up to the evil master), and has been known to dress up like him for Halloween, declaim wildly at random intervals, and occasionally even commit some diabolical act, like using metal utensils with a paper plate.

Here are some of the interesting emails he's gotten:

• July 16, 2001: A letter to the system administrator (not Travis) at Wright State, informing them that they have a supervillian masquerading as a faculty member.
• August 5, 2003: A reply from Travis to someone who asked him questions as if it were a real interview. The level of seriousness maintained by both parties is what makes this amusing to me.
• May 9, 2004: A note from someone quoting an IRC conversation about Travis's name.
• July 11, 2005: Do you have any mystical powers?
• July 9, 2005: A warning to Jen.

At one point, we received an answering machine message that went as follows: "WE'RE THE FANTASTIC FOUR, AND WE'RE ONTO YOU! IT'S CLOBBERIN' TIME!" This was shouted by approximately four people, and we honestly don't know who did it, or if we even knew the callers.
