I waited around all day, hyperaware of my body, trying to detect the least sign of labor. I took a shower at about 11:00am, and found myself feeling cramping like menstrual cramps, but pretty dull and light. I remember thinking that it hurt, a dull ache, and wondering if labor was going to all be like that. It worried me, because really intense cramps can be very debilitating. Our goal was to ensure that I was well-rested for labor, so I went back to bed at that point. I think, now, that I should have walked on my treadmill or something, because it is possible that I was going into labor, but had stalled it by resting. My midwife doesn't really think so, though, because if that were true, I would have gone into labor sometime on my own, which I never did. I called GMC at about 1:30 and talked to Cindy, who had taken my call that morning. I was concerned that I hadn't had any contractions yet, and wanted to find out what I should do. She suggested walking, and told me to come by the office around 4:30 so Cat could check me out and see what was going on. I walked several miles at a pretty low speed, and had no contractions. What
was going on? Why was my body so confused? Read Next: Monday afternoon - midwife appointment |
